Meeting Minutes

Minutes for 4 March 2010

CPOA   President Dave Riser, turned his gavel over to VP Chuck Canaday to run the meeting after announcing his upcoming transfer in April. Meeting called to order.

pending/old business:

MCPO Luce called GMC Thomas to ask if he had been unable to contact American Legion about our garage sale. He will follow up by monday. jan had also sent an e-mail to Mr Sanchez on Feb 23rd but to date has received no reply. It was determined that if we do not receive a date for the sale by the next meeting we would hold it at the 32 lounge. jan will begin advertising as soon as date and location are determined.

The golf tournament is on track for June 4th. YNC Jacobs is on leave and will provide additionals details at next meeting. Once flyers are released Jan will advertise and the flyers will be published on our website.

Our last cookout made money, thank you to all of our supporters on both sides of the grill. Our next cookout will be March 11th. MCPO DeWald and OSC Loudin volunteered to help setup/cook this month. More volunteers are needed however. Jan will send out the flyer and advertise in the plan of the week.

MCPO DeWald ran with the departing plaques for the 14 Chiefs that will be departing this year. THANK YOU! He asked for $500 from the CPOA to help fund the plaques. A motion was made and passed. It was requested that everyone stil donate a device. It was also tabled for a later date to discuss what we would do for future departing chiefs. MCPO DeWald is donating all of the labor for the plaques this year and will discuss his fees for next year if we decide to keep with the State of WA plaque once he retires. THANK YOU!

It was discussed and decided that Thursday mornings would be a good time to have highway clean-ups. Jan will announce when the next one is, which will be soon after the garage sale.

MCPO DeWald spoke to CAPT Kinsley and he requested no flowers for his fathers passing, so the approved $50 was not spent.

MCPO Luce will resend the info about volunteering to help Olympic Cellars with bottling on May 4-5. If interested let him know.

new business:

MCPO Luce asked for a contact here at the Group for the winery for future bottling dates and someone to continue to purchase/pick-up the wine for resale at the 32 lounge. jan volunteered to be contact for the winery and to organise bottling events/volunteers. OSC Loudin and another volunteer will continue to purchase/pick-up the wine.

Commander Don Stevens, American Legion Post #62 asked the Chapter if they would like to join the Clallum County Veteran’s Association ($45 annual fee). Our membership would allow us to send a delegate to thier meetings and secure us a vote. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 1300 at 107 East Prairie in Sequim. A delegate will be chosen each month to attend. If you would like to attend please contact the President or Vice President.

BMC G. Clark volunteered to oversee the food and beverage at the Chief’s hut, replacing MCPO Luce.

Elections will need to be held for the presicent and vice president positions before June 2010. jan will send out a nomination ballot to the Chief’s. The treasurer and secretary will come up for elections next summer.
